Steve Francis wins Colossal 100 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in North Carolina
(Cornett Racing Engines winner of the $50,000 event for Dale Beitler Racing)
 
CONCORD, NC (April 20, 2008)—Steve Francis of Ashland, KY is now back on top of the world, or World of Outlaws that is.
 
After last year’s World of Outlaws Late Model Series Championship, Francis took on a new challenge in 2008. Francis teamed up with Dale Beitler Enterprises of Maryland, and after victories in the early part of the season, Francis has now captured the World of Outlaws Late Model Series-Sanctioned Third Annual Colossal 100 at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, NC on Saturday April 19, 2008.

After joining a new team and racing a new power-plant in 2008, the driver dubbed as the ‘Kentucky Colonel’ just got $50,000 worth of reasons to be happier with where he is at.
 
Francis, who started on the outside pole position, survived a 16-caution flag halted 100-lap event for one of the richest wins of his dirt late model career.
 
The 40-year-old Francis drove the Dale Beitler owned, Reliable Painting/Valvoline sponsored Rocket Chassis powered by a Somerset, KY built Cornett Racing Engine in the event.
 
Other Cornett Racing Engines competitors: Josh Richards of Shinnston, WV was third in the main event with Newport, TN driver Jimmy Owens fourth. Jeep VanWormer of Pinconning, MI was 11^th and Darrell Lanigan of Union, KYwas 15^th.
 
In other Cornett Racing Engines victories around the region, Brent Dixon of Elberton, GA won a Super Late Model event on Saturday Night April 19, 2008 at the Toccoa (GA) Speedway.
 
In Super Dirt Stock action at the Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY on Friday night April 18, Gerald Haynes Jr. of Somerset, KY won the main event in his # 27 mount sponsored by Troy’s Roofing and is powered by Cornett Racing Engines.
